Full spring Line-up Announced

We’re delighted to announce the line-up for our 10th anniversary festival. Expect a three-day party bursting with everything from big-name authors to debut writers, personal inspirations to global themes; a literary extravaganza befitting this landmark anniversary. View the full programme by clicking here.

2012 is a year of anniversaries and of the many there are to mark this year we have focused on two. The 20th anniversary of the death of Angela Carter is remembered in a fitting tribute to the life of this bawdy, magnificent writer and, with the kind support of Vintage Classics, The Bloody Chamber is our book of the festival. The centenary of the sinking of the Titanic falls on Wordfest weekend so we also remember this in a very special event. Top fiction is as high on the agenda as ever with appearances across the weekend from William Boyd, Iain Banks, Margaret Drabble, Alan Hollinghurst, Ian Rankin and Helen Dunmore to name but a few. We are also thrilled to introduce Thinking Aloud, a series of events which spotlight a selection of the finest intellects from the University of Cambridge.

We continue to champion the cause of the emerging writer with an exciting range of workshops as well as talks and seminars from industry professionals on how to get published. And don’t miss our coveted debut writers event where we showcase a future generation of writers.

The children’s programme is bigger than ever before with a special guest appearance by Paddington Bear to open the festival officially and we’re thrilled to say that with special thanks to our quiz master the literary quiz is back.

We are extremely grateful for the continued support of our principal sponsor The Technology Partnership and to our other funders, sponsors and supporters for their loyalty and encouragement.

We look forward to seeing you from 13-15 April for a literary party like no other!

Cathy Moore, Festival Director
