Simon Baron-Cohen in The Guardian
We're always pleased to see Wordfest authors in the news.
This week we enjoyed reading Winter Wordfest author and Cambridge University professor, Simon Baron-Cohen's article in The Guardian about Lynne Ramsay's new film of Lionel Shriver's masterful book, We Need to Talk About Kevin.
The story follows the mother of Kevin, a teenager who stages a Columbine-style school shooting, and her relationship to her child. Drawing on the ideas set out in his new work, Zero Degrees of Empathy, Professor Baron-Cohen invites us to employ the notion of the erosion of empathy, rather than 'evil', when thinking about Kevin, offering a scientific way to understand those who end up as psychopaths.
You can see Professor Baron-Cohen talk about his new work at Winter Wordfest. Go to the event page for more details.
