Spring is the season of buds, blossoms and profusion and this year’s amazing Spring Wordfest line-up keenly reflects that. Our contemporary literature strand is particularly rich this year, with prize winners Hilary Mantel  (2009 Booker Prize) and Don Paterson (2009 Forward Poetry Prize and Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry); literary stars Philip Pullman, Hanif Kureishi, Blake Morrison, Jon McGregor, and Lionel Shriver; and our Book of the Festival, The Coral Thief , written by our newest Festival Patron, Rebecca Stott. Let your hair down with our comedy events:  Jeremy Hardy’s My Family and Other Strangers; Radio 4’s Kate Fox and Milton Jones; plus Yes - a cabaret devised by theatre company Wonderful Beast which celebrates the work of Adrian Mitchell. Engage with today’s most gripping issues - the 10:10 Climate change campaign with founder Franny Armstrong (The Age of Stupid, McLibel) and a Local Party Leaders’ Platform; the reporting of the 20th century with BBC World Affairs editor John Simpson; and the state of the economy with the magisterial Will Hutton. Be inspired with our comprehensive range of writing workshops, including A.L. Kennedy on writing prose. And make it a family weekend with our free All Join In events at Cambridge Central library or the return of the wonderful Francesca Simon. There’s truly something for everyone at this spring’s festival.
