Kate Grenville special event

Two days before the publication of her latest novel, Sarah Thornhill, Cambridge Wordfest are delighted to present celebrated Australian author Kate Grenville who is making a rare UK visit.

Sarah Thornhill follows on from the Booker Shortlisted The Secret River and continues to give a meticulously researched glimpse into the lives of the first generation of white Australians to be born on the continent.

Perhaps best known for The Idea of Perfection which won the Orange Prize for fiction, Kate Grenville is one of our finest living writers.

This event will be chaired by Robert McCrum, Associate Editor of The Observer and festival trustee.

You can read The Observer review of The Secret River here.

‘Here is someone who can really write’ – Peter Carey, two-time Booker Prize winner with Oscar and Lucinda and True History of the Kelly Gang.
