Seren, Wales’ leading literary publisher, launched its new series - ‘Stories from the Mabinogion’ - with the novels White Ravens and The Ninth Wave, by Owen Sheers and Russell Celyn Jones, respectively. The eleven stories in the Mabinogion come from two medieval Welsh manuscripts, with roots dating back many centuries earlier. Based on stories from the text, both novels have been garnering high praise: “It is hard to take on the giants of the past without being felled by them, but Celyn Jones and Sheers have done justice to the Mabinogion, and to themselves .” The Times, October 2009. Poet, actor, novelist and TV presenter Owen Sheers will also discuss A Poet’s Guide to Britain, his new anthology of his favourite poems about the British landscape and companion volume to the BBC television series.
