About Cambridge Wordfest

Twice each year Cambridge Wordfest welcomes some of the world’s freshest thinkers to celebrate with us the power of words in all their forms. From novelists, poets, editors and critics, to scientists, politicians, historians and entertainers, we showcase the most exciting reflections of the world we live in today.

Conceived and launched in 2003, the festival has been well-attended and enthusiastically praised from the very first, and has gone from strength to strength. Today, Wordfest continues to bring the best in new and established writers to the historic and beautiful city of Cambridge, providing a rich cultural offering for this renowned seat of learning.

Wordfest is more than just a festival. It’s a space for the expression of dissonance, diversity, debate and desires. It showcases creativity. It encourages children and young people to be enthused by the power of words, the love of books. It creates a space for authors and readers to mix, and it provides opportunities for new and budding writers. It celebrates the breadth of human experience, gives Cambridge its richness, and gives Cambridge its cultural.

Participants on both sides of the lectern have expressed their appreciation of the festival...
